President Bola Tinubu has announced a new foreign policy direction that places the interests and welfare of Nigerians at the centre of the country’s diplomatic engagements.

The President said the repositioning is aimed at ensuring that Nigeria’s international relations deliver tangible benefits to citizens, rather than remaining largely ceremonial. He made this known while addressing newly appointed ambassadors, urging them to align with the administration’s people-focused agenda.

Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, charged the envoys to actively promote Nigeria’s interests abroad, attract investments, and strengthen the nation’s global standing.

He emphasized that diplomatic missions must now focus on economic gains, strategic partnerships, and measurable outcomes that support national development.
