Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.
Makinde made the announcement during a rally at Mapo Hall in Ibadan amid ongoing political realignments involving factions of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor declared at the rally.
Earlier, Makinde led the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP in signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the APM as part of a strategic alliance for the 2027 elections.
The agreement was signed by Makinde and APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle on behalf of both parties.
Under the arrangement, candidates of the PDP faction contesting governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections in 2027 are expected to contest on the APM platform instead of the PDP.
