Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday submitted their presidential nomination forms at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement posted on his X handle, Atiku described his presidential ambition as part of a broader national movement aimed at restoring prosperity and rebuilding Nigeria.

“The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today,” he stated, calling on Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines to support the movement.

Amaechi, after submitting his forms, pledged to transform the country within four years if elected president, insisting that competence, experience and performance should determine the 2027 election rather than ethnic or regional considerations.

Amaechi said his experience as governor of Rivers State and later as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari had prepared him for national leadership.

He also pointed to infrastructure projects executed during his tenure as transportation minister, including the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines.
