President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.
Enitan succeeds Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The Osun State-born Enitan is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service and has served in the position for seven years and seven months across several ministries, including Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice President and, currently, the Federal Ministry of Education.
President Tinubu thanked Walson-Jack for her distinguished service and contributions to reforms and innovations in the Civil Service. He charged Enitan to consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen professionalism and efficiency, and build a merit-driven, accountable and responsive Civil Service in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enitan holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
