Iran has launched missile attacks against US military positions in Iraq and Jordan after the United States resumed strikes on Iran, escalating tensions between the two countries.

Iran’s Red Crescent said a US missile strike on Sirik in southern Iran killed four people, including a child, during a wedding celebration, while more than 50 others were injured. The US said its strikes followed attempted attacks by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran subsequently fired ballistic missiles at a US Marine base in Jordan’s Aqaba. Jordanian authorities said 13 missiles were intercepted, with 10 destroyed and three falling in remote areas, causing no casualties. Kuwait also reported responding to Iranian missile attacks with its air defences.
