Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has challenged anyone with access to his official records to make them public, saying he has nothing to hide.

Obi made the statement during an interview on 90 Minutes Africa while responding to claims by Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, that presidential candidates in Nigeria have FBI files.

The former Anambra State governor said he was unaware of having any FBI file and had never dealt with the agency.

“I don’t know. I’ve never met the FBI,” he said.

Obi said he was prepared to submit himself to full public scrutiny, arguing that anyone seeking public office should be willing to have their records examined.

He called on the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to release his complete academic records, including his admission documents and results from his first year through graduation.

He also urged institutions where he attended executive programmes, including Lagos Business School, the London School of Economics, Columbia Business School, Kellogg School of Management, Harvard Business School, Oxford, Cambridge, INSEAD and IMD, to make his records available.

Obi also challenged other presidential candidates to adopt the same level of transparency, saying public officials should be accountable for their past and willing to explain any mistakes to Nigerians.
