President Bola Tinubu will flag off his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has said.

Yari disclosed this on Friday after briefing Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on campaign preparations and the proposed timetable for state visits.

He said the campaign council’s inaugural meeting would hold on October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, adding that Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State, would be the next stops after Kaduna.

According to Yari, the full campaign timetable would be released after the council’s inauguration.

Defending Tinubu’s chances against opposition candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, Yari argued that winning the presidency requires substantial support in both northern and southern Nigeria.

He claimed that Tinubu had established a strong political base across both regions and defended the administration’s economic performance, saying the government was delivering results rather than making promises.

Tinubu appointed Yari director-general of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on August 22, 2026, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027. Campaigns are permitted from August 19, 2026, until January 15, 2027.
