The congratulatory messages and good wishes poured on Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo from virtually all sections of Nigerian on his 60th birthday have obviously left him overwhelmed.
President Muhammadu Buhari himself led the train with his message: “60 hearty cheers for Professor Yemi Osinbajo, running mate turned partner in service to Nigeria; a friend. Happy Birthday, Professor.” Buhari’s wife, Aisha also tweeted an elaborate congratulatory message. Then, messages from the Who’s Who on the Nigerian political canvass poured in. Industrialists, businessmen, traditional rulers and other shades of people were not left out.
All thanks to Osinbajo’s apparently rising popularity since he became Acting President. Across broad sections of the Nigerian society, the Vice President is emerging as a dependable, understanding and performing leader. Among the political class, there is an obvious stampede to identify and relate with Osinbajo.
Prof. Osinbajo has acknowledged the outpouring of love towards him by Nigerians but in doing so, he went deeply religious. His statement read: “Thank you everyone, for your kind words, I am humbled. I am grateful to God for 60 years. There is no me without Him. Saved by Grace alone.”
