The media aide to Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, has said that the suspension placed on the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal would remain indefinite pending the outcome of their probe.
According to a statement issued by Akande, the suspension of the duo will persist until the Osinbajo-led panel that was constituted to investigate the allegations leveled against them submits its final reports.
He pleaded for patience on the part of Nigerians, assuring them that the outcome of the investigations carried out on the two officers would be publicised in due course.
“When the time comes, the outcome of the panel would be made manifestly public and Nigerians would be satisfied. The two suspended officials remain suspended,” he said.
Both Oke and Lawal were last month suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari over the discovery of N13.3billion in an Ikoyi apartment and alleged financial misappropriation in the management of the humanitarian crisis in North-Eastern Nigeria respectively.
