The Police in Uganda are investigating a series of hand grenade attacks carried out on homes of opposition members of Parliament in the country.

Explosions were heard Tuesday morning from the homes of the two legislators – Allan Ssewanya and Robert Kyagulani who have confirmed the incidents and said no one was hurt in the attacks which left their windows shattered.

The duo claimed that they were being targeted for opposing the removal of age limits which caused a fracas in the parliament leading to last week’s arrest and detention of 24 other opposition legislators.

Ssewanya , the MP for Makindye West posted pictures of the havoc wreaked on his home and the remnants of the grenade on Facebook.

“People have thrown a grenade/ explosive at my home 1:20 am . . . need some rescue,” he posted.

Musician turned politician , Kyagulani who is popularly called Bobi Wine also made a similar post on Facebook about the attack on his house in Magere saying it was the second time in two days.

He posted: “Grenades have for the second time in two days been thrown at my house and exploded. Property damaged and no one hurt ! But what kind of country are we now living in?

“Anonymous calls targeting not only me but my family as well. I have been told that if I don’t leave that thing alone, I will just be terminated or disabled,” he added.

The grenade attacks started last week when the Rubaga North MP, Moses Kasibante’s house was targeted after his release from the police station where he was detained with other opposition lawmakers after the fracas in parliament.
