Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says governance in Nigeria is  spiritual warfare and he is asking for continuous prayers for those at the helm of affairs in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new 30,000 capacity auditorium of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry Headquarters at Gbagada, Lagos on Tuesday, Osinbajo assured that the Federal Government would bring an end to the incessant killings arising from Boko Haram and herdsmen attacks.

While condemning Tuesday’s killing of two Catholic priests and worshippers in Benue State, the Vice President stressed that despite the persecutions, Christians would never resort to preaching hatred.

His words: “This I say to the church as well; it is the duty of the church to pray for those in government; the church should uphold the hands of those in government, not by complaining but by supporting us in the place of prayer.

“Governance is spiritual warfare. I know that governance is warfare and I ask that you pray for us who are in position of authority in this land. We, as a body of Christ must not lose focus. We are called to pray for all men and women, even those who kill and persecute us.”

While expressing sadness over the attacks on religious institutions which he said were aimed at preventing the propagation of the good news and stoking up religious conflicts in Nigeria, Osinbajo continued: “They want us to stand on our pulpits to preach hate. We will obey the Lord Jesus Christ who said we should love our neighbours. There is no person born or unborn that can stop the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
