Westminster, the United Kingdom’s seat of power has come under a deadly attack. At  2:40 p.m. (GMT) today, a man rammed a car into crowds of people and stabbed a police officer outside the UK Parliament. Four people have been confirmed dead including the attacker who was shot by the police.

Forty others sustained serious injuries. Some of the injured are in critical condition. A terribly frightened woman jumped into the River Thames although she was luckily, promptly rescued.

This vicinity is widely considered to be one of the most guarded locations on Planet Earth.

Now, much of Central London has been placed on complete lock down and Parliamentarians were advised to remain inside the building while law enforcement officers briskly addressed the situation.

The gates to Buckingham Palace –Her Majesty, the Queen’s residence– have also been shut following the attack. Tourists staying in the pods of the London Eye (the giant Ferris wheel), were held up for about three hours while the authorities worked to restore  order.

The incident which occurs one year after the Brussels attack is already being treated as an act of terror and  fingers are pointing at ISIS.
