The United States Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, has revealed that it may be expedient for the US to take precautionary military action against North Korea, if their weapons program threats reach an unacceptable level.
He made the disclosure at a news conference in Seoul, shortly after his visit to the heavily militarised border with North Korea on Friday.
Tillerson said although the United States does not intend to have any military conflict, it will give “appropriate response” if North Korea takes actions that might be seen as a threat to South Korean or US forces.
Tillerson had earlier warned that the policy of “strategic patience” with North Korea had ended, adding that henceforth, all options of using military force against the North were being currently discussed and would soon be “explicitly expressed.”
