The number of billionaires in the world is now 2,043. This is according to the 2017 list just released by Forbes Magazine. The new figure represents a 13 percent increase in the number of the super rich in the world. Last year, Forbes said there were 1,810 billionaires globally.
This year’s 233-person increase is the highest jump since Forbes started compiling the list of billionaires in the world 33 years ago.
As expected, the United States of America occupies the top 10 positions, with Microsoft’s Bill Gates’ worth of $86 billion taking the first position for the fourth straight year. Bershire Hathaway’s Warren Buffet has jumped back to the second spot from his last year’s fourth position.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezoz, Zara’s Amancio Ortega of Spain and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Interestingly, US president, Donald Trump’s $3.5 billion net worth, leaves him sharing the 544th spot on the list, a huge drop from the 324th position he occupied in 2016.
