President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday called off the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was scheduled to commence at about 10.a.m.
According to his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, the reason for the cancellation was to enable the President receive the report of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led Investigative Committee on the allegations leveled against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
Adeshina also stated that the Investigative Committee was also expected to present its report on the suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke over the recovery of large sums of money in a private building located in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
“The meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will not hold today. President Buhari will however, receive the report of the Investigative Committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at 12 noon, in his office,” the statement read.
The cancellation however raised eyebrows in several quarters concerning the President’s current state of health since the meeting would have been the first he would be attending in many months having been away in the United Kingdom on medical vacation.
