Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday slammed the management of the State House Clinic in Abuja over the deplorable state of its facilities. She also made an open call that the management of the clinic which is meant to care for the President and his family, the Vice President and his family as well as officials and workers at the State  House should be made to account for moneys budgeted for its operations.

Speaking at the opening a two – day stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Mrs Buhari said a situation where constructions were ongoing at the clinic which cannot boast of a syringe was not good enough for the country.

She recalled that she was recently sick and was advised to seek medical treatment abroad because the clinic which was established to take care of the President, Vice President, their families as well as members of staff of the Presidential Villa was in a poor state.

“I called the Aso Clinic to find out if they have an X-ray machine, they said it’s not working. In the end, I had to go to a hospital owned and operated by foreigners 100 percent,” she revealed.

“There is a budget for the hospital and if you go there now, you will see a number of constructions on but they don’t have a single syringe there. What is the purpose of buildings if there are no equipment there to work with?

“You can imagine what happens across the states to governors’ wives if this will happen to me in Abuja,” she added.

She called on the Chief Medical Director of the State House Clinic, Dr Husain Munir, who was present at the event to, without delay, account for the budget that was allocated to the clinic.
