The Senate has said it will continue with the investigation of the allegations leveled against the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris by Senator Isah Misau despite the charges recently filed against the senator.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Pubic Petitions stated that the committee set up to investigate the allegations would proceed with its mandate since it was not joined in the suit filed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation on behalf the Police boss against Senator Misau.

The Senate had on October 4, set up an ad-hoc committee headed by the Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Francis Alimikhena to investigate the allegations leveled by Misau against the Police chief including alleged collection of N120 billion annually from high-profile persons and corporate organizations for security services.

The other members of the panel who have been mandated to report back to the Senate in two weeks include Senator Joshua Lidani, Binta Masi Garba, Duro Faseyi, Nelson Effiong, Obinna Ogba, Abdul-Azeez Murtala – Nyarko and Suleiman Hunkuyi.
