Nigeria’s erstwhile Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and former governor of the defunct Midwest Region, David Ejoor has died at the age of 87. He was the country’s Army chief between 1971 and 1975 during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon.
Already, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has expressed sadness over the demise of the retired major general, who hailed from Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu on Sunday in Asaba, Okowa condoled with the family, the Urhobo nation and the people of Ovwor-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area over the death of the former COAS.
Okowa said that the news of Ejoor’s death had left him devastated, especially as the nation was approaching another round of elections, adding that he was however consoled by the fact that the departed COAS would remain immortal and never to be forgotten.
