Following Wednesday’s collapse of a three-storey building which killed over ten persons and injured many, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) on Friday morning commenced the demolition of structurally-defective buildings located on Lagos Island.
At the time of this report, men of the agency’s task force are pulling down a four- storey building on 60A Freeman Street, Epetedo area which they said had been served several notices dating back to 2013.
Speaking to newsmen at the scene of the demolition exercise, the General Manager of LASBCA, Mr. Lekan Shodeinde said about 180 houses will be demolished during the exercise, with 20 already earmarked for demolition on Friday.
