
The Nigerian government has recalled its Ambassador to South Africa, Mr Kabiru Bala following the xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals especially its citizens.
The country has also pulled out of the World Economic Summit (WES) on Africa scheduled for Cape Town, South Africa from September 4 to 6.
The decision was taken during a Wednesday morning meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The move is apparently meant to register serious displeasure with the South African authorities over the ongoing xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreigners resident in the country .
By this action, Nigeria follows the footsteps of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia and Malawi who have all pulled out of the Summit.
