Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari says he hopes history will be kind to him at the end of his regime.

Buhari stated this on Wednesday when he received residents of the Federal Capital Territory led by the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello during the traditional Christmas Day homage at the State House, Abuja.

He used the opportunity to reassure Nigerians that he was conscious of his duty as  president, adding that he would continue to uphold the Constitution of Nigeria in all matters.

His words: “I swore to hold this office in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and God willing, I will follow the system diligently to the end of my term and I hope history will be kind to me and Nigerians.”

While reiterating his regime’s commitment towards the effective utilization of national resources in rebuilding the country, Buhari said the extreme infrastructure deficit inherited by his administration was worsened by the volatility in the oil market and the activities of militants in the Niger Delta

He however expressed confidence that in the last four years, the Federal Government had recorded sustainable progress in mobilizing scarce resources to rebuild infrastructure across the country.
