The Attah of Igala, one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers and the king of the Igala people, Michael Ameh Oboni II, is dead. Sources say he died on Thursday morning while in hospital.

The cause of his death had not yet been confirmed as at the time of filing this report. The same sources, however disclosed that he died after a brief illness.

Before his death, he was the Chairman of the Kogi State Traditional Council.
