Seven persons have been killed after a military aircraft crashed a few yards off the runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja a few hours ago.

“First responders are at the scene. Sadly, all seven personnel on board died in the crash,” Ibikunle Daramole, Nigerian Air Force spokesman, said in a statement on Sunday.

 

The Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft crashed while returning to Abuja airport after reporting engine failure en route Minna in Niger State.

A spokesman at the Ministry of Aviation, James Odaudu, said the “aircraft reported engine failure at time 10:39 and crash- landed on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22 at time 10:48UTC.”
Odaudu said fire fighters have been deployed to the scene to put out a raging blaze that has engulfed the airplane.
