President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday visited survivors of the deadly attack by suspected armed herders on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 100 people were reportedly killed.
The president arrived at the Nigeria Air Force Base Airport in Makurdi at about 12:58 p.m. on a condolence visit to the state. He was received by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.
Also present to welcome the president were the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, other federal lawmakers from the state, as well as governors of North Central states, ministers, and other senior government officials.
During the visit, President Tinubu met with patients who are currently receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital following injuries sustained in the attack. He expressed sympathy with the victims and their families, assuring them of the federal government’s commitment to improving security in the region and supporting affected communities.
The visit comes amid growing concerns over the frequency and scale of attacks by armed groups in Benue.
