Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has secured a decisive victory in the 2025 governorship election, winning all 21 local government areas of the state in what observers describe as a historic landslide.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
Announcing the results in Awka on Saturday night, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo the winner, noting that the poll was largely peaceful and well-conducted across the state.
In his victory speech, Governor Soludo thanked Ndi Anambra for renewing their faith in his leadership, pledging to consolidate the achievements of his first term. “Anambra has spoken loud and clear,” Soludo said to cheering supporters at the APGA Secretariat. “This victory belongs to every man, woman, and youth who believes in a greater Anambra. My mission is simple — to finish stronger and deliver a state that works for all.”
INEC reported a total of 598,229 accredited voters out of 2.7 million registered, with 595,298 votes cast and 584,054 valid votes recorded. Election observers described the exercise as peaceful, with minimal incidents and improved result transmission.
With a fresh four-year mandate, Soludo now faces the challenge of deepening his reform agenda — expanding infrastructure, strengthening security, and boosting job creation across the state. “The next four years will define the future of Anambra,” Soludo said. “We will build on what we’ve started — and finish strong for the sake of our children and generations to come.”
