President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.

According to a statement, Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is a specialist in digital systems, examination technology, and institutional reform.

He holds degrees in Computer Systems Engineering, Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from UK universities, alongside executive training from the Lagos Business School.

Aina previously had early exposure to JAMB during his National Youth Service and has since built over 15 years of experience in technology-driven education reform, advising government agencies and examination bodies including NECO, NABTEB, and state ministries of education.

He is also a member of several professional bodies, including COREN, NSE, IEEE, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

At 39, he became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in his field and is set to become the youngest-ever Registrar of JAMB.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina’s expertise in digital systems and public-sector reform will further strengthen JAMB’s operations and build on the achievements of his predecessor.
