President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe after spending about 30 days outside Nigeria.

Tinubu departed Abuja for Europe on August 30 for his annual leave and was initially expected to return after 21 days, but his return was postponed at least twice.

His prolonged absence had drawn criticism from opposition parties, which called for clarification on his whereabouts and health.

However, the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said on Tuesday that Tinubu had departed Paris, France, for Nigeria and was expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later in the evening.

Onanuga said Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
