The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to retake Anambra State from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2021 governorship election in the state.
To achieve the goal, the party said it would go for the best governorship candidate irrespective of the zone such a person might come from.
The National Vice Chairman of the PDP (South- East), Chief Austin Umahi stated this over the weekend while fielding questions from journalists at the end of the party’s zonal working committee meeting in Enugu .
Umahi said recapturing Anambra was a task which the party must accomplish as it was regrettable to note that the state was always not represented by governors in the South-East when meetings on matters of great concern to the Igbo nation were being discussed.
He noted that the suspension of the zoning system would only be applied to the coming Anambra governorship election, explaining that having been out of power, the party needed to field the best candidate for it to actualize its dream of winning the election.
