The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has told Nigerians particularly people in Edo State to disregard any results concerning the forthcoming gubernatorial elections posted on social media.

In a statement on Twitter, Nigeria’s chief electoral body said: “Results on Social Media should be disregarded as only INEC or its designated officials can do so.”

The statement also included a caption which read, “It has come to the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that some persons, especially on social media have started publishing RESULT of the Edo Governorship Election, such RESULT should be disregarded as only INEC or its designated officials can do so.”
