The Federal Government has announced that Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, will be public holidays in celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to all Muslim Ummah, both in Nigeria and the Diaspora, on the occasion.
Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim community to embody the virtues of peace, kindness, and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also encouraged the faithful to use this period to pray for the unity, prosperity, and stability of the country.
“The minister reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians,” the statement read. “He further enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to support, cooperate and join hands with the president in his sustained efforts to diversify the economy and progressively accelerate the pace of the nation’s economic recovery.”
As the Muslim community prepares for the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, Tunji-Ojo wished everyone a joyous celebration and urged all Nigerians to contribute to creating a prosperous future for the nation’s children.
