Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park following growing security concerns in the affected communities.
The curfew, which takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. for an initial period of 48 hours.
The directive was contained in a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and announced in a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
According to the state government, the measure is aimed at strengthening security, protecting lives and property, and supporting ongoing operations by security agencies in the area.
Residents of the affected councils have been urged to comply fully with the restriction as security agencies enforce the curfew and work to restore peace and order in the communities.
