The 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 continued with more thrilling knockout action over the past two days as England, Belgium and the United States secured places in the Round of 16, while Spain, Portugal and Switzerland prepared to begin their knockout campaigns later today.
England survived a major scare to defeat DR Congo 2-1 after Harry Kane scored twice in the closing stages to overturn an early deficit. The hard-fought victory booked the Three Lions a Round of 16 clash against Mexico.
Belgium produced one of the tournament’s biggest comebacks, rallying from two goals down to beat Senegal 3-2 after extra time. Youri Tielemans netted twice, including the decisive extra-time penalty, as the Red Devils set up a last-16 showdown with the United States.
The United States also progressed with a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Folarin Balogun opened the scoring before Malik Tillman sealed the win despite the Americans finishing the match with 10 men after Balogun’s dismissal.
Action continues today with three remaining Round of 32 fixtures as Spain face Austria, Portugal take on Croatia, and Switzerland meet Algeria for the final available places in the Round of 16.
