Spain dominated possession and frustrated France’s star-studded attack, with Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise unable to break through a disciplined Spanish defence that has conceded just one goal throughout the tournament.

The victory extends Spain’s unbeaten run to 37 matches and sends the European champions into Sunday’s World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina. France will play in the third-place playoff.
