Nigerian football legends will take on Spanish football greats, Barcelona legends in a charity match organized to honour the exemplary works of Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
The match dubbed ‘Clash of Legends’ will feature ex-football stars like Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Netherland’s Edgar Davids who once played for Barcelona.
The match organized by the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is scheduled for March 10 at the National Stadium, Abuja.
The Director-General of NCWD, Mrs. Mary Ekpere-Eta at a press briefing on Thursday said the NCWD and UNICEF, having recognized the laudable projects of the First Lady and her foundation, the Future Assured Programme, is hosting the two-day programme in support of the work she is doing especially for the Nigerian child.
Terry Dunmian, the UNICEF Chief Education Officer said they were also supporting the programme because they want to use sports as a uniting factor to bring the children together and impact educationally on their lives.
