Gambia’s President-elect, Adama Barrow was today sworn into office. Barrow who was inaugurated in the Gambian embassy in Dakar, Senegal amid the political uncertainty back home, took the oath of office in a very modest ceremony.
The newly pronounced Gambian president took to Twitter and said:
This is a victory of the Gambian nation. Our national flag will fly high among those of the most democratic nations of the world. #Gambia pic.twitter.com/QRGZg1gzbs

Significantly, Yahya Jammeh who lost the presidential election to Barrow on December 1 is yet to step down. Having refused to honourably accept the result of the election, he still occupies the presidential palace in Banjul. In the midst of multiple resignations by his cabinet, including the Vice President and warnings from the international community, the world awaits his next step.
