Sean Spicer, the Chief Press Secretary to American President, Donald Trump has resigned his appointment in protest of a shake up in the communications team of the White House.

Spicer, who took over the position following Mike Duke’s resignation in May, reportedly stepped down because he was unhappy with President Donald Trump’s appointment of combative Wall Street financier, Anthony Scaramucci as the new communications director. Spicer also partially filled that position.

The shake up has come just when the White House is in the heat of inquiries into alleged Russian interference in last year’s US presidential elections to ascertain whether  Trump’s campaign team connived with Moscow in any capacity.

Spicer’s resignation as Press Secretary brings to an end a tumultuous six months and a day in office as the public image maker of Donald Trump’s administration.

Perhaps, the most damaging blow to the 46-year-old Spicer in the White House came during Trump’s first foreign trip as president when the Press Secretary, despite being a devout Catholic, was locked out of a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican.
