Oyegun

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the tenure of the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party by twelve months.

The extension was approved by the party’s NEC at its ongoing meeting in Abuja. Announcing the decision, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello while briefing journalists midway into the meeting said the decision was based on Article 13 of the party which vested powers on the NEC to do so.

The extension automatically means that Odigie-Oyegun’s leadership which was scheduled to end this year having been elected on June 14, 2014 at the first National Convention of the party at the Eagle Square, Abuja will now lead the party into the 2019 general elections.

The Forum of the APC State Chairmen had during their meeting on Monday ahead of the NEC meeting, unanimously resolved to propose a two-year extension for the Oyegun-led NEC and other constituted organs of the party at state, local government and ward levels.
