The Minister of Mines and Steel Development and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has commended Tuesday’s peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
In a statement released by his Media Office on Wednesday, Fayemi congratulated the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola over his emergence as the PDP flag bearer for the July 14 gubernatorial election in the state.
While describing the orderly and peaceful PDP primaries as a welcome development, the minister said whoever emerges the governorship candidate of the APC would give Prof. Olusola a good fight as according to him, the APC remained the preferred choice for a majority of Ekiti people.
Fayemi further expressed confidence that any aspirant who emerges victorious in the re-scheduled APC gubernatorial primaries on Friday would be more acceptable to the Ekiti electorate.
The Ekiti State APC primaries held on Saturday last week failed to produce a candidate after violence broke out at the venue of the polls over allegations of manipulations.
