Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha on Thursday said that he stands the best chance of becoming the first Nigerian democratically elected president of Igbo extraction.

Speaking during a breakfast meeting he held with journalists at the Government House in Owerri, Okorocha maintained that he commands massive followership beyond the South-East region much more than any other Igbo politician.

The governor however lamented what he called the pull-him-down attitude among the political elite of Igbo extraction stressing that it was unfortunate that the Igbo do not celebrate their own.

He disclosed that he will not be relying on the support of the Igbo nation to pursue and actualize his presidential ambition.

“I stand a better chance of making the Presidency in 2023 but my greatest challenge will come from the Igbo. It is our character. It will be a foolish thing to imagine that the Igbo will support me,” Okorocha said.
