Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko on Thursday declared his intention to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2019 general elections.
Mimiko, who made his intention known at an event held at the National Secretariat of the Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam-led LP in Abuja said there comes a time in the life of a nation where all patriots must stand up to be counted.
Lamenting the wanton killings across the nation particularly in the Middle Belt, Mimiko said the country needed a purposeful leadership and that this has informed his decision to run for the presidency.
“I have found it compelling to declare my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mimiko said.
