Major General John Gbor (rtd) on Sunday emerged as the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) with Jerry Chukwueke as his running mate for the 2019 general election.

Declaring the adoption of Gen. Gbor and Chukwueke by the delegates in Abuja on Sunday, the party’s National Chairman, Victor Ike Oye noted that Major Gen. Gbor’s emergence was an indication that the party had taken its position in the league of national political parties in the country.

“It is no longer speculation. APGA has gotten a presidential candidate. He is a retired major general, with a Ph.D. from one of the revered Universities in United States of America. Again our Vice President is a technocrat and an international businessman with many degrees in Economics,” Oye said.

He disclosed that the party had concluded plans to win governorship seats in eight out of the 36 states of the federation in the forthcoming general elections in line with his earlier prediction for the party when he assumed office as its National Chairman.

According to Oye, the new states the party was targeting are Abia, Imo, Nassarawa, Benue, Zamfara and Enugu.

In his acceptance speech, Gbor said his administration would pursue a five point agenda comprising  True Federalism, Security, Fiscal Restructuring, Social Agenda as well as ensuring that the lives and property of all Nigerians were secured.

While warning that his administration would not tolerate the killings of any Nigerian under whatever guise, Gbor added that his government would restore the citizens’ trust in the nation’s leadership through good governance.

Recall that late Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was APGA’s pioneer presidential candidate.  The party had not fielded any presidential candidate on its platform since Ojukwu and until Gbor’s emergence.
