President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of scores of people in the  attacks by bandits which occurred on Saturday in three communities in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Buhari, who was briefed about the incident and the arrests so far made by the Nigeria Police condoled with Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the people of the state over the incident.

In a statement issued on Sunday through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the President strongly condemned all acts of violence and terrorism against innocent Nigerians.

He also assured that the perpetrators and sponsors of such dastardly acts would be made to face the full wrath of the law while praying for the quick recovery of all those injured during the attacks.

He further pledged that his administration will not relent in the campaign to neutralize terrorists, bandits and kidnappers across the country.

“The President, who was briefed about the incident and the arrests so far made by the Police condoles with Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the people of the state over the tragic incident .

“President Buhari strongly condemns all acts of violence and terrorism against innocent Nigerians, reiterating that perpetrators and sponsors of such dastardly acts would be held accountable under the law,” the statement read in part.

The bandits struck in the two local governments in simultaneous and coordinated attacks on Saturday evening, killing over 50 persons in five communities. The victims were buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites.

Eyewitnesses said the attack on Sapiru, Kalfu , Tsage , Rakonni and Geeri villages of Isa Local Government Area were carried out by gunmen who stormed the communities on motor bikes shooting sporadically.

Confirming the attacks, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sadiq Abubakar said four suspects who were allegedly involved in the killings had been arrested.

“Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the weekend attacks. They are in our custody and will sure help in our investigation,” ASP Abubakar said.
