Serena Williams has moved into a 10th US Open final by defeating Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-1.
She will now play against Bianca Andreescu, the 19-year-old Canadian who rallied to defeat Belinda Bencic 7-6(3) 7-5 and is making a maiden grand slam final.
Getting a 24th major Saturday would tie Serena with Margaret Court for tennis’ all-time lead.
Williams booked this spot in the final almost 20 years after appearing in her first grand slam final at the 1999 US Open, before Andreescu was even born.
