Joseph Yobo

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Super Eagles defender and skipper, Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the team.

Yobo will replace Imama Amapakabo in the technical crew of the senior men’s national team.

The Everton legend captained the Super Eagles to a triumphant outing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, and will now assist head coach Gernot Rohr.

“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Super Eagles’ defender and captain Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the team. He replaces Imama Amapakabo in the three -ime African champions’ technical crew,” an NFF statement read.

Joseph Yobo played for the Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles  during the FIFA World Youth Championship (now known as FIFA U20 World Cup) in 1999.

He won his first cap for the senior team in an African Cup of Nations qualifying match in Chingola, Zambia in April 2001 and played in three FIFA World Cup finals in 2002, 2010 and 2014.
