Tiger Woods was hospitalized after being involved in a single-car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. According to his agent, Mark Steinberg, Woods suffered “multiple” leg injuries. Woods was undergoing surgery on Tuesday afternoon after the crash.

Tiger Woods, who was the only person in the SUV, was “extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries,” the LA County Sheriffs Department said in a tweet.

Deputies arrived at the crash scene on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes at about 7:12 a.m. PT, the department said.

The vehicle sustained major damage,” authorities said.

Mark Steinberg said in a statement: “Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

Woods, 45, was staying at the Rolling Hills resort while he was filming as part of a deal he has with Golf Digest and the Discovery channel.

The 15-time major champion underwent a back operation for the fifth time in his career earlier this year.

He told sportscaster Jim Nantz in a video posted Sunday on the PGA Tour’s Twitter feed that he was “feeling fine” but a “little bit stiff” after his most recent procedure. He said he was scheduled to get one more MRI.
