DIG Frank MbaThe Police Service Commission (PSC) has given its stamp of approval to the appointment of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) Frank Mba and Bala Ciroma as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs). This decision comes as DIG Ciroma takes over from DIG Ali Janga, who has retired from service and previously represented the North East geo-political zone in the Police Management team.

With this promotion, DIG Ciroma, being the most senior officer from the zone, will now be responsible for representing the North East zone. Meanwhile, DIG Mba will be taking over the representation of the South East zone, replacing the retired DIG John Amadi, who previously held the position.

Furthermore, the PSC has also approved the elevation of 14 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, as well as 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners. This decision aims to strengthen the leadership and operational capabilities within the police force.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the PSC and a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP), presided over the 21st plenary meeting of the Commission, which saw the attendance of all its members, including the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Commission, Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku.

Among the newly appointed AIGs are Abubakar Lawal, Alhassan Aminu, Abdul Umar, Shettima Zannah, Ebong Eyibio Ebong, Adepoju Ayiinde Ilori, Okon Okon Effiong, Echeng Eworo Echeng, Susan Ukpanukiema Horsfall, Bankole Lanre Sikiru, Oladimeji Yomi Olarewaju, Sani Gwarzo, and Odama Paul Ojeka.

In addition, 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police have been promoted to the rank of Commissioners. This includes Abibo Deinma Reuben, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Wakil Abdul Salamai, Enyinnaya Inonachi, Ronke Nurat Okunade, Adekunle Ismail Olusokan, Hassan Abdu Yabnet, Festus Chinedu Oko, Aminu Baba Raji, Omolara Ibidun Oluntola, Akoh Benedict Gabriel, Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, Ahmadu Tijani Abdullahi, Mohamned Mu’azu, Bretet Emmanuel Simon, Ihebom M Chukuma, Shettima Mohamned Qurtu, Olatokunbo Maxwell Olabisi, Yusuf Mohammed Lawal, Monica Leo, and Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi.

Furthermore, the Commission has promoted 24 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioners. Notable individuals in this group include Ezekiel Ibrahim from the Project Monitoring Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Mohammed Shamsudeen from the Assistant Director of Operations in Kaduna, Khan Salihu Usman from the Networking Admin ICT FHQ in Abuja, Wan Mantu Chongs, the Commander of PMF 19 in Port Harcourt, and Baba Lawan Audu, the Area Commander of Exeter Akwa-Ibom State Command.

Additionally, 39 Chief Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police. Among them are Joseph Udoh, Nze Helen Omeba, Uduaku Isaac Udom, Anthony Francis Etim, Benjamin Kelembus Bello, Abdullahi Idris Abubakar, Ogbonnaya Nwota, and Daiyabu Mohammed Ahmed.

Lastly, the PSC has appointed CSP Akande Bamidele to act as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

As part of the process for their new ranks, the two AIGs, 14 CPs, and 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police engaged in an interactive session before the Commission in Plenary, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

These decisions made by the Police Service Commission signify a commitment to bolstering the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force, promoting meritocracy, and rewarding deserving officers for their dedication and service.
