The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and several serving and former governors as coordinators and collation officers for its presidential primary election.

The party also confirmed that it would adopt the direct primary system, allowing all registered APC members nationwide to participate in the exercise.

According to a document issued by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the direct primary is scheduled to hold across the country’s 8,809 wards on May 24, 2026.

The document stated that coordinators and collation officers would oversee the conduct of the exercise in their respective states, collate results from all local government areas, and submit them to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja.

“The organisation and conduct of the direct primary in each of the 36 states and the FCT shall be the responsibility of the State Coordinator and Collation Officer,” the document partly read.

The directive, signed by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, added that previously issued guidelines for the conduct of direct and consensus primaries would also apply to the exercise.
