The United Nations Secretary- General, Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the attack on Gwaska village in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State by armed bandits in which scores of persons were killed and dozens injured.

According to updated reports, no less than 70 people-including children were killed in last Saturday’s attack.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres emphasized the need for the concerned authorities in the country to bring the perpetrators of the heinous attacks to justice.

The UN Chief expressed his continued concern over the persisting violence in the Middle Belt region, urging all actors to work together towards bringing peace and stability to the region and the Nigerian nation at large.

Guterres also extended his condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and people of Nigeria and prayed for  speedy recovery for all those injured.
