A member of the National Steering Committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali has expressed optimism that the party will surprise Nigerians in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, Prof. Alkali stressed that he was confident in the ability of Senator Iyiola Omisore who recently picked the SDP gubernatorial nomination forms. 

“In the forthcoming election in Ekiti State on July 14 and subsequently in Osun State, SDP is confident of winning in those two states. 

“Our members are highly mobilized and committed to ensure our victory, but I must call on all other parties involved in the elections to follow the rule and avoid anything that could undermine the legitimacy and sanctity of the process,” he said. 

He added: “The Independent National Elaectoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies must be allowed to do their work. Sen. Omisore has been doing very well in Osun State and we are confident, victory is ours.”
