President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday inaugurated the campaign manual for his re-election in 2019 with a call on politicians in the country to be peaceful and decent in their campaigns and avoid any act capable of setting the nation ablaze.
Speaking at the launch of his Campaign Manual called ‘Next Level Document’ at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Buhari said the call had become imperative in view of the commencement of campaigns by political parties across the country.
His words: “I’m not unmindful that the National Assembly and the Presidential campaigns start today. I will implore candidates to go about the campaigns peacefully and decently. We have no other country, let us not set it ablaze because of politics.’
The President observed that the next four years would be quite significant as the country was faced with a choice to keep building a new Nigeria or breaking away from its tainted past which favoured only an opportunistic few.
“We are committed to deepening the work we started this first time such that the nation’s assets and resources continue to be organized and utilized to do good for the majority of our people,” he added.
